Kathryn Mora was born in Los Angeles and recently returned to the West Coast from Boston. She is a documentary filmmaker, freelance writer and Journalist who writes feature stories for magazines and newspapers on a variety of subjects that included, Nollywood, the African film industry, multicultural children’s publishers, 1934 experimental bi-planes, writers of asylum, and natural childbirth.
She received her B.A. from California State University, Northridge in Journalism with an English minor and also was presented with the 1994 society of Professional Journalist Most Outstanding Senior Award.
Currently she is working on a screenplay, and childhood memoir book about her 6 year magic adventure with her brother as they traveled across the USA with their writer father and artist mother. She also plans to make her second documentary film about natural childbirth.
Many years ago she performed as Katrina, the clown, taught and performed stand-up comedy, created and performed comedic characters that included, Dr. Gwendolyn Baumgartner, a virginal psychologist who was a relationship specialist.
In another life, Kathryn lived on 80 acres with her two sons and a man she planned to marry (fortunately decided not to after all) and created her own program as a certified childbirth educator and labor coach (doula) in Trinity County, California close to the Oregon border.
