ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Traci Carter Holsey serves as the Head of Development for Niecy Nash’s production company, Chocolate Chick Inc. An active member of the Producers Guild of America West and the Screen Actors Guild, Traci is also a director and award-winning producer based in Los Angeles, California. Her narrative writer/director credits include her graduate thesis project THE PROMPOSAL about a high school senior forced to quarantine with her overprotective mother weeks before her senior prom. The short was named as an official selection of the Hollywood Gold Awards, the Golden State Film Festival, and the Rhode Island Black Film Festival. Traci was recently named as a finalist in the Creative Coalition’s “Your Voice Carries Weight” PSA Competition with her spot “Rethinking the Dialogue.” An active member of the Alliance of Women Directors, Traci was chosen for the 2023 Cohort of the Black Director’s Advancement Initiative. Traci draws from personal storytelling as a way of creating humorous, heartfelt, universally appealing stories that place women at the center of their own narratives. Traci holds a BA in Film/Television from Howard University, a certificate in Feature Film and Television writing from UCLA Extension and an MFA in Directing from Mount Saint Mary’s University. A Board member and advisor of “Keepin it Reel: Black Girls Film Camp,” Traci has mentored and advised over 15 teen filmmakers in directing their first short films.
