This intensive,

*  How to translate your ideas into meaningful, moving images

*  The process of working with actors – from casting to the rehearsal process, how to guide them, how to give notes and feedback, what to look for, and how to know when youäó»ve found it.

*  How to choose lenses and how to frame, compose, and motivate your camera to help tell your story

*  How to analyze a screenplay – what questions to ask, and where to find the answers.

*  Shot selection, conflict, theme, subtext and tone

*  How to choose between static shots or moving the camera

*  Understanding of eye-lines for shooting proper coverage

*  How to use storyboards, shot lists, and floorplans to refine your vision and ultimately enhance your visual approach.

*  How to communicate, guide, collaborate, and inspire actors during the rehearsal process which leads to powerful performances that ring true and leap off the screen

*  How to collaborate with a director of photography, choose lenses, framing, and composition, and motivate your camera to shoot and cover a scene in the most economical, efficient and compelling way

PLUS:

Each filmmaker will then practically apply your learning, and be given an opportunity to DIRECT YOUR OWN SCENE from a high-quality screenplay by a top-tier Hollywood screenwriter, using professional actors, cameras, and DP.  You will undertake the entire directoräó»s process from script analysis, to working and rehearsing with actors and blocking shots – followed by an actual shoot, and then screening your work for the class where you will get to discuss your choices and receive a critique.
