ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:

JASON PIETTE is a producer and film financier with over 50 movies and TV series to his name, including the $25M The Merchant Of Venice starring Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons; Head in the Clouds ($20M) starring Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz, (both for Sony Pictures Classics); the $33M Napoleon TV series for A&E in the United States; Perfect Creatures ($11M) for Twentieth Century Fox; independent American features such as Mark Pellingtonäó»s I Melt With You for Magnolia Pictures and cult classic, part crowdfunded Iron Sky for Entertainment One.  Before co-founding Disrupting Influence, Jason also worked on the $300 million Movision Film Fund.  Jason is a graduate of Cambridge University.

CHRIS CHARALAMBOUS has worked in the film industry for over eleven years.  He is Head of Acquisitions and Business Development at Freestyle Releasing where he identifies new films for US theatrical release in addition to digital media and ancillary distribution.

Before joining Freestyle, Chris worked as Executive and Producer at Pierce Brosnanäó»s MGM based film and television production company, Irish DreamTime.  In addition to managing a slate of over 25 film and television projects in active development, he worked on five Irish DreamTime films that were independently financed and sold to major distributors such as New Line, United Artists and The Weinstein Company for theatrical release including äóìThe Matador,äó äóìLaws of Attractionäó and äóìThe Greatest.äó

From 2000 to 2001, Chris worked at MGM Studios in theatrical marketing research, international marketing, and theatrical production.

Chris received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the City University of New York Queens College.  He has lectured on various topics in the film industry at UCLA Film School, USC Film School and assorted professional organizations. A frequent international traveler, he holds both US and British Passports.

GLENN KENDRICK ACKERMANN has over 20 years experience in sales, distribution, finance, packaging and acquisitions in the film industry.  Glenn began his career in the agent-trainee program – aka äóìThe Mailroomäó – with Triad Artists (merged now with WME, one of the largest talent agencies in the world).  Over the past 20 years Glenn has worked at companies such as Quadra, Helkon, Capitol, VIP Medienfonds, Atlas, and V International Media having secured international presales, private equity, licensed international and domestic distribution rights, and has been involved either in the sourcing, selecting, packaging, project managing, and financing of first-run theatrical titles and library titles.

Commercially and critically acclaimed titles from the above companies include:  Father of Invention, Edge of Love, The Crow Salvation, Rollerball, Legionnaire, Two Girls and A Guy, Lucky Number Slevin, John Carpenteräó»s Vampires, Malcolm X, Alpha Dog, Lord of War, Perfume, Ask the Dust, Terminator 3, Alexander, Wedding Planner, Gosford Park, K-19, KPAX, Point Break and GI Jane.  He has served as a credited Executive Producer on films such as the renowned medieval action-adventure film Ironclad, Sweet Vengeance and Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

He graduated from University California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law and holds a Juris Doctor degree from UCLA.  He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA and attended the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Producers Program (Masters Degree).  He is a member of the California State Bar.

JULIA VERDIN is a British film producer and founder of Rough Diamond Productions, established in 1994.  She has established herself as one of Hollywoodäó»s leading producers with over 30 feature films.  She is best known for producing the Sony Classics release The Merchant of Venice, directed by Michael Radford, and starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and Joseph Fiennes, the Newmarket release Stander, directed by Bronwen Hughes, and starring Tom Jane, Deborah Unger, Dexter Fletcher, and David Oäó»Hara, and the Breaking Glass release 2 Jacks, based on Leo Tolstoy short story äóìTwo Hussars,äó directed by Bernard Rose, and starring Danny Huston, Jack Huston, Sienna Miller, Jacqueline Bisset, and Billy Zane.

Verdin has recently executive produced Lionsgate release Born of War, directed by Vicky Jewson, and starring James Frain and Sophia Black Däó»Elia.  This year she has just directed her first film Lost Girls, staring Bar Paly, Marisol Nichols, and Jamie Harris, and produced The Unwilling directed by Academy Award nominated director Jonathan Heap, and starring Dina Meyer, Jake Thomas, and Lance Henriksen.

She is currently developing various projects with writers and directors including Academy Award and Palme däó»Or nominated writer/director James Dearden; acclaimed festival award winning writer/director íŠva Gíçrdos; Academy Award Nominated director Jonathan Heap; WGA Autumn Stories 2010 winner screenwriter Cynthia Riddle, and director Vincenzo Natali.

Verdin is a top film consultant having provided consulting services on development and production.  She also wrote the critically acclaimed book, Success in Film, a detailed guide to funding, making, and finishing independent films.

Verdin served on the board of BAFTA LA for 12 years.  She is based in Los Angeles, and still maintains a base in London.
