Tanya Kersey is probably best known as the Founder/Executive Director of the Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF), where she is responsible for the overall organization, management, and administration of one of the leading black film festivals in the world.
Named an Urban Hollywood Mover and Shaker by Daily Variety, Tanya is called The Filmmaker’s Success Mentor. She gives independent filmmakers the information, tools and resources they need to develop, finance, produce, market & distribute successful films so you can master the BUSINESS of successful moviemaking, share their vision with the world, become the darling of the film festival circuit, see their film on the big screen, and make a living doing what they love.
Tanya also runs The Kersey Group, a boutique consulting firm which provides film, media & business development consulting services on a broad range of entertainment industry-related projects including marketing, distribution, strategic business planning, business development and programming for film, television and new media. The company offers specialized expertise in the urban and multicultural markets and creates capacity-building and branding programs for developing film communities and countries.
Tanya recently launched the Breakthrough Filmmaker Success Academy, the essential resource for the training, advice, and support filmmaker’s need to plan, create and grow a profitable, meaningful filmmaking career and get their film financed, seen & sold. The Academy’s mission is to help filmmakers learn how to create their own breakthrough filmmaker success by focusing on the business of making creatively, financially & critically successful films. After working with over 1000 filmmakers, Tanya realized that filmmakers desperately needed help with the “business” aspects of their career, and the idea for the Academy was borne.
