Personal Bio
I was born and raised in Los Angeles to a Dutch mother and Italian & German father. Dutch was actually my first language before I spoke English, so I had an “echte Nederlandse” upbringing. I was hamming it up at early age, often standing up at the dinner table, proclaiming “I have an announcement!” My Italian grandmother lived right across the street from us and I could usually be found raiding one of her many closets to get dressed up and then putting on shows for her in the backyard. Growing up Dutch and Italian was an interesting mix of Protestant work ethic blended with dramatic emotionalism. I think that’s what still drives me to this day. I still understand Dutch, but pretty much only know unhelpful phrases my mom used to say (insert shameless plug here for my TikTok content “Unhelpful Dutch Phrases”). I still speak Italian, especially the profanity. So if you ever need some help cussing someone out in Italian or want to learn confusing Dutch phrases of dubious meaning – let me know!
