Personal Bio

Ricardo Barretto is a multi-faceted creative force, blending a rich background in performance, storytelling, and psychology to help others unlock their authentic creative voice. His diverse journey spans across three continents, where he has performed in English, Portuguese, and Hindi, after honing his craft at prestigious institutions such as the London Academy of Dramatic Arts, Stella Adler Conservatory, Shakespeare & Company, and The International Shakespeare Globe Center.

With a magna cum laude degree in Film and TV Production, Ricardo has not only crafted his own creative path but has also shared his knowledge by teaching screenwriting at Brazil’s top-ranked university. His students have included heads of studios and TV networks, acclaimed independent filmmakers, and industry professionals behind Brazil’s best film of 2012. His guidance has helped dozens of creatives in the U.S. and abroad bring their stories to life.

Ricardo’s academic journey continued at the University of California, Irvine, where he graduated with honors in cognitive psychology and explored cognitive sciences, neuroscience, consciousness, and philosophy. However, the capstone of his work lies in his postgraduate exploration into the deep psyche, at the Pacifica Graduate Institute, a profound dive into humanity’s psychological inheritance—an often-overlooked dimension in modern psychological discourse.

In addition to his academic and teaching credentials, Ricardo is the visionary behind the Kalpana Series, a five-season sci-fi adventure that delves into the aftermath of a superintelligence explosion. He is also working on a book and podcast on synchronicity, which explores the mysterious intersections of synchronicity and the psyche-matter continuum.

But ultimately, I believe the hope for the world lies in the individual. Our greatest task is to regain our wholeness and reconnect with the deep psychological ground.”

With the Deep Writing Program, Ricardo invites aspiring writers and creatives to embark on a transformative journey—combining timeless storytelling techniques with a deep understanding of the psyche, archetypes, and myth—to create stories that resonate on the deepest human level.
