Personal Bio

After teaching high school literature and creative writing for decades, Joel McElvaney became certified to teach dramatic writing for theatre, film, and television and soon after—with the help of a global pandemic—pursued his dream to become a full-time screenwriter.

Though he collected several accolades in 2021 (including Semi-finalist and Top 5 placements) for his original features and a TV pilot, McElvaney is still a relative newcomer to the industry who continues to perfect his craft and build relationships with other creatives in the filmmaking community.
