Personal Bio
J.R. Russell is an actor, writer, and producer known for his work on “Scrubs”, “Switched at Birth”, and most recently “I’m Dead, You’re Welcome.” He is also a published poet/ author since the age of 17.
J.R. grew up in North Plains, OR on 5 acres with 30 Golden Retrievers. Surrounded by nature, his imagination constantly wandered to storytelling and what if… He always loved telling stories in any form.
J.R. began acting in theater from a very young age. After graduating from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA he began his career in TV/Film. He was trained in all techniques with an emphasis on Meisner to start.
J.R. was then trained by Diana Castle at The Imagined Life. This really transformed his career in terms of how he viewed the world and life of every story. He owes a huge thanks to Diana for her rigorous teaching.
He began creating his own films and most recently finished “I’m Dead, You’re Welcome”. The short film is set to hit Film Festivals later this year and into 2025. The film has potential to be picked up as a feature or TV series.
He is currently writing a few other feature films as well and is looking forward to sharing them with the world very soon!
