Artist Statement
I love to bring real life to the screen.
I love to bring hope, truth, beauty, and love
to every project.
I am a passionate spiritual woman and love the art of filmmaking – bringing the
best people to the project and let them do what they do best.
I have an “eye” to bring“beauty” to the screen out of the “ashes” of oneʼs life.
I think I should be one of the selectees, because with only attending a one day
workshop, I went out produced, wrote, and directed my first short film – Lost Angels.
Lost Angels was selected in four film festivals and won an award for an inspiring film.
I am an African-American woman and I want to be part of the diversity program because
it is an awesome opportunity to get my project Catalina produced. Catalina, the movie,
should be accepted because it will be written, produced, and directed by an African
American woman and is a classic story of tragic romance drama. It is inspired by a true
story.
Two people meet from diverse backgrounds – fall in love, and try to overcome their
racial, cultural, spiritual, and class differences take place on the beautiful island of
Catalina.
I have been mentored and have mentored others at various points of my life. Because
of that, I appreciate the valuable time, effort and wisdom that will be imparted to me.
I have a strong work ethic to produce and bring to fruition each project. I will be totally
receptive and want to be one of the ones you can say “I mentored her in producing” and
be proud of that.
