SEEKING PEOPLE WITH CHILDCARE CRISIS OR STRESSFUL SITUATIONS

CASTING PAID DOCUMENTARY PROJECT

We are searching for people  currently EXPERIENCING A CRISIS OR STRESSFUL SITUATION DUE TO CHILDCARE who live in California, and are willing to share.

First 5 California is creating a short documentary to expose how California’s childcare collapse is unraveling families, businesses, and the economy, and what we stand to gain if we fix it.

$500 Stipend will be paid to those selected to participate.

We are currently seeking people in the following categories:

DUAL INCOME PARENT CAREGIVERS:  Dual-income families experiencing extreme stress trying to make it all work

PARENT CAREGIVER:  Single parent or two parent families in poverty, on the brink of homelessness or job loss if they can’t find affordable childcare

GRANDPARENT CAREGIVERS:  Multi-generational families who only make it work with grandparents providing free childcare.

CHILDCARE PROVIDERS:  Childcare Providers struggling to keep their daycare or preschool doors open due to the rising costs.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS/PRINCIPALS:  Educators seeing the ramifications of students who don’t have access to early childhood education (daycare or preschool)

BUSINESS OWNERS:  Struggling to keep employees because they cannot find affordable childcare ( must have 10 or more employees).

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT:  ASAP, no later than Noon on Friday, May 15th, 2026

Shoot:  One day shoot in early June, 2026 (if selected)

Pre-interviews:  via zoom or self taped

Compensation:  You will receive a $500 stipend.
