Many actors study voice, improv and movement, but very few study the nature of emotions, what facial muscles are involved in creating specific emotions and how those emotions are revealed on the actor's face.  Learning this allows actors to create complex human emotion, the basis for every reaction – on-camera, on demand - in a recognizable way.

Most training for actors focuses on the body, the voice and the words to communicate emotion, which works for the stage.  Film acting, which relies primarily on the face, requires an additional set of skills.
